For thousands of years, Indian Ancient Indians tribes would meet. At the junction of the Indian River and Jupiter inlet. US Army surveyors in 1849 recommended the Jupiter inlet area. As a suitable place for military defenses. In 1854 President Franklin Pierce signed an order. To reserve a 61-acre site on the Fort Jupiter Reservation for a future lighthouse.
 
Lighthouse was built with a double brick design and stood 105 feet, and was built on a shell mound. The lighthouse can be seen 24 nautical miles (44 Km, 28 mi) at sea. The building was completed on July 10, 1860. That night you could see the first lighting of the lighthouse. A few months later, they established a weather bureau station. 1890 the reservation established a Naval wireless telegraph station.
 
1936 The US Navy acquired 8.4 acres. The Navy was operating a radio compass station and was an aid to navigation for ships passing by. Weather information and monitored distress signals from the station broadcast. As well as the naval ship to shore and plane frequencies. 1939 the station established an intelligence listening post at the naval radio station. You found navy personnel and their families.
 
1940 the Navy Station Radio Detection Finding station Known as “Station J” cane online. The top-secret radio installation goal was to intercept German U-boats. Radio message and warn Allied ships and help US forces attack enemy vessels. Station J pinpointed the location and names of submarines. German submarines were destroyed on May 1943 30 and June another 37 German submarines. The men of Station J found most German submarines.
