So what is the ideal temperature When Sleeping?

A room temperature of 65°F is ideal. However, in the spring or winter, most can see that happening. But what about the summer? Most homes adjust their thermostats to get a good night’s rest.

Many utility companies, AC manufacturers, and the US department of energy (DOE) recommend summer temperatures 78°F. That is great if you were conserving energy but not favored for a good night’s sleep and better health.

Yes,  HVAC Systems Impact the Quality of Sleep

Some individuals in Palm Beach might think 65°F is too cold for their comfort level for sleeping. Dr. Walker’s team found that just lowering the temperature 3-5° showed a great improvement with patients with insomnia. Cooling off helped 4% of the patients to get to sleep.

Some homeowners do not have the luxury of cranking down the temperature can be difficult or even impossible for some older AC Units. So, decreasing the AC unit to a comfort level that is needed or AC unit is barely going to be able to keep up with 78°F.

No One Size Fits all for Comfort

Suppose you are not comfortable with 65°F. To sleep at night but 78°F. It is too high during the summertime, especially if you are controlling the indoor humidity. Most homes find that 70°F is more comfortable to sleep.

Try a Little AC Experiment

So do some experimenting with your home thermostat for a week. Lower the temperature from 3- to 5° a few hours before you go to bed, so your room is at that temperature. If not adjust it, even more the following week. So eventually, you will find the sweet spot for energy consumption and getting a good night’s sleep.

How Does Central Heating and Cooling Work?

The split indoor evaporator coil is installed to work with your outside unit containing a condenser coil and compressor. The chemical called refrigerant is used in compressor pumps. The outdoor unit then transfers the heat energy from inside your home and blows across the indoor evaporator cold.

That transfer cools the air and then blows it into your home. Exchange for the heat in your home to start the journey again. So you are left with cold, comfortable air conditioning throughout your home or business.
